Custom fight gear: every question answered
Everything brands, gyms and distributors ask us before they order, from first idea to reorder. Can't find your question? Ask it in the quote form and we will answer it personally.
Getting started
New to custom fight gear? Start here.
What do you make?
From gear to wear, for every fight sport: gloves, pads, bags and protective gear; BJJ, judo, karate, taekwondo and sambo uniforms; fight shorts, rash guards, spats, robes, boxing vests and wrestling singlets; plus teamwear. All custom, under your brand.
Who do you make fight gear for?
We make custom and private-label fight gear for brands, gyms, fight teams, martial arts schools and distributors. Whether you are launching your first glove or restocking a shop, we work as your production partner from first idea to reorder.
I want to start my own fight gear brand. Where do I begin?
Start with one or two products you know your customers want, usually boxing gloves, hand wraps, Muay Thai shorts or a BJJ gi. Send us your idea, a reference photo or a sketch, your target price and quantities. We turn it into a written specification and a sample you can hold before you spend money on bulk.
Do I need a finished design or tech pack to get a quote?
No. A reference photo, a sketch or a design made in our design studio is enough to start. We ask the right questions, write the specification with you and confirm every detail on the sample.
What information should I send for a quote?
Send the product, quantities per size or weight, materials if you know them, your logo files, the delivery country and your deadline. If you are unsure about any of these, say so and we will guide you through the options.
Do you sell single pairs or retail items?
No. We make gear for businesses, so we quote orders rather than single retail items. If you are a gym or team, ask about smaller club orders in your colours.
Why choose Bolide instead of a marketplace supplier?
You deal directly with the maker, and everything is agreed in writing: specification, sample, price, lead time and delivery terms. You approve a physical sample before bulk, and the same specification is kept for your reorders so every batch matches.
How quickly will you reply to my enquiry?
We reply to every enquiry personally with questions or a quote. The more detail you give in the quote form, the faster and more accurate the quote.
Pricing and minimum orders
What affects your price, and how to make a first order work for your budget.
How much do custom boxing gloves cost?
The price depends on the material (cowhide, goatskin or PU / synthetic), padding, closure, branding method, packaging and quantity. Leather and multi-layer padding cost more than PU and single-layer foam. Send your specification and quantities for a written unit price by quantity.
What is your minimum order?
Minimums depend on the product, material and branding method. Put your quantities in the quote form and the minimum for that exact specification is confirmed in your quote, before you pay for anything.
Can I start small and grow?
Yes. Many brands start with a small first order across one or two products, then reorder as they sell. Tell us your budget and we will suggest the choices that keep the minimum and the cost down.
Why do prices drop with bigger quantities?
Setup work such as patterns, print screens, embroidery files and material cutting is spread over more pieces, and materials are bought in larger lots. Your quote shows unit prices at different quantities so you can choose.
Can I mix sizes, weights and colours in one order?
Yes. The quote form takes a quantity for each size or weight. Minimums per colour or design are confirmed in your quote.
Are there setup or sample costs?
Any sample or setup cost is stated in writing in your quote before work starts. Nothing is charged that is not in your quote.
How do I compare your quote with other suppliers?
Compare the full specification, not just the unit price: material grade, padding, branding method, packaging, sample terms and delivery basis. A cheaper quote often means a thinner material or no inspection. Our quotes list each of these so you can compare like for like.
Samples
Every new design is sampled and approved by you before bulk.
Do you make a sample first?
Yes. Every new design is sampled and approved by you before bulk production starts. The approved sample is the standard your bulk order is made and checked against.
How much does a sample cost and how long does it take?
Sample cost and timing depend on the product and are set out in writing before we start.
What if I don't like the sample?
Tell us exactly what to change and we will revise it. Bulk never starts until you approve the sample in writing.
Can I test the sample before approving it?
Yes, and we recommend it. Hit the bag with the gloves, wash and dry the gi or shorts, weigh the glove and check every measurement. That is what the sample is for.
Will bulk be exactly like my sample?
Bulk is made against your approved sample and written specification, and goods are checked against it before they ship. You can ask for photos and video of finished bulk next to the sample before shipment.
Design, logos and branding
Getting your brand on the gear, exactly right.
Can you put my logo on the gear?
Yes. Logos and names can be printed, embroidered, embossed or applied as patches, depending on the product and material. We recommend the method that will look best and last longest on your item.
What file should I send for my logo?
Vector files (AI, EPS, SVG or PDF) are best for every method. High-resolution PNG or JPG files can work for printing. Embroidery needs clean artwork without very fine detail. The quote form checks your file and warns you if it is likely to be too small.
Can you help if I only have a rough logo or sketch?
Yes. Send what you have and tell us what you want it to look like. We will confirm what is possible for each branding method and show it on the sample for your approval.
Can you match my brand colours?
Yes. Send Pantone references where you have them. Colours are confirmed on the physical sample, because leather, satin and polyester take colour differently from a screen.
Can I design my gear online?
Yes. The design studio lets you choose a product, set colours for each part, add your name or text and upload your logo, then send the design straight into a quote request. It is a preview; final colours are confirmed on the sample.
Can you add fighter names, gym names or numbers?
Yes. Names, gym names and numbers can be added to gloves, shorts, robes and teamwear. For team orders, send a list of names per size.
Who owns my designs?
Your artwork and designs remain yours. We use them only to make your orders. Ask for a confidentiality agreement before you share unreleased designs.
Materials and quality
What your gear is made from, and how quality is protected.
Leather or synthetic: which is better for boxing gloves?
Cowhide and goatskin leather last longer, breathe better and shape to the hand, which suits premium and fight-style gloves. Good PU / synthetic leather keeps the price lower and is easy to clean, which suits gym, fitness and kids gloves. Tell us who the gloves are for and we will recommend a material.
What padding do you use in gloves?
Padding is specified per glove: foam type, number of layers and thickness. Multi-layer foam spreads impact better than a single layer. The padding you approve on the sample is written into your specification.
Can I see materials before I choose?
Yes. Ask for material swatches of the leather or fabric options for your product, so you can feel them before you decide.
How do you make sure quality is consistent?
Everything is built from a written specification and an approved sample. Bulk is checked against that sample before shipping, and you can ask for photos and video of production and finished goods.
Will BJJ gis shrink?
Gi jacket and trouser fabric is chosen and pre-shrunk to limit shrinkage after washing. We recommend washing your sample the way your customers will and measuring it before you approve.
Is your gear certified or tested?
Ask about the exact product you want. We share the test reports and certificates we hold, and we never claim certification for a product without documents.
What happens if there is a problem with my order?
Tell us straight away with photos and the quantities affected. Because your order was made to a written specification and approved sample, it is clear what was agreed, and we work with you on a fair fix.
Production and lead times
From approved sample to finished goods.
How long does production take?
Lead time depends on the product, quantity and time of year. It is stated in your quote and starts after sample approval.
I have a fight, event or launch date. Can you meet it?
Tell us the date at the start. We will tell you honestly whether it is realistic for your quantity and shipping method, and plan the sample and production around it.
Will I get updates during production?
Yes. You can ask for photos and video of production for your order, so you see your gear being made.
Can I change the design after approving the sample?
Small changes may be possible before materials are cut, but changes after approval can affect cost and timing. The best time for changes is the sample stage.
How do reorders work?
Your specification is saved, so a reorder is quick to quote and matches your last batch. Just send the quantities per size.
Shipping, payment and delivery
Getting your gear to your door, with no surprises.
Which countries do you ship to?
We quote delivery to the USA, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and other countries on request. The delivery basis is stated in your quote.
What does EXW, FOB or DDP mean on my quote?
These Incoterms say who pays for which part of the journey. EXW: you collect from us. FOB: we deliver to the port and you pay the freight onward. DDP: delivered to your door with duties paid. Your quote states which one applies, so there are no hidden costs.
Do I have to pay import duty?
That depends on your country, the product and the delivery term. With DDP the duties are included in the quote; with EXW or FOB they are paid by you on import. Check your country's duty rate for the product before you order.
What are your payment terms?
Payment terms are set out in writing in your quote before production starts.
Can my order be shipped by air or by sea?
Ask for both in your quote. Air is faster and suits smaller orders and urgent deadlines; sea is cheaper for larger, heavier orders such as bags and big glove orders.
Can you ship to more than one address?
Ask in your quote. Split shipments, for example to a warehouse and a gym, can be quoted.
Packaging and labelling
Retail-ready gear under your brand.
Can you supply branded packaging?
Yes. Retail boxes, polybags, hang tags, care labels, size labels and carton marks can be quoted with your product, in your branding.
Can you add my own labels inside the gear?
Yes. Woven or printed brand labels, size labels and care labels can be added so the product carries your brand, not ours.
Can you put barcodes on the packaging?
Send us your barcodes (UPC / EAN, or Amazon FNSKU labels if you sell on Amazon) and they can be printed and applied to polybags or boxes. Confirm the requirement in your quote request.
Do you pack for marketplace or warehouse requirements?
Tell us the requirements of your warehouse or marketplace (bag type, warning labels, carton size and weight limits) and we will quote packing to match.
Gyms, clubs and fight teams
Kit your members and fighters in your colours.
Can you make gear in our gym colours with our logo?
Yes. Gloves, shorts, hand wraps, rash guards, robes and teamwear can be made in your club colours with your logo, and names for fighters.
Can we order different sizes and names for each member?
Yes. Send a list of sizes and names. Each piece can be personalised within the same order.
Can we reorder when new members join?
Yes. Your specification is saved, so reorders match the original kit. Send the quantities per size when you need more.
Can you make kids gear for our junior classes?
Yes. We make kids boxing gloves in youth weights, plus junior uniforms, shorts and rash guards in your colours.
Can we sell the gear to our members?
Yes. Many gyms sell branded gloves, wraps and shorts to members. Ask about retail packaging and labels so the gear is ready for your shop or front desk.
Distributors and retailers
Range, size curves and repeat supply.
Can you supply a full range for my shop or distribution?
Yes. From gear to wear: boxing, Muay Thai, kickboxing, MMA, BJJ, judo, karate, taekwondo, sambo and wrestling gear and wear, plus training equipment and teamwear, can be combined in one mixed-category order.
Can you pack to my size curve?
Yes. Tell us your size curve per style and how you want cartons packed and marked.
Can you make gear under my store's own brand?
Yes. That is private label: your brand on the product, labels and packaging, built to an approved sample.
Can you handle repeat orders on a schedule?
Yes. With saved specifications, repeat orders are quick to quote. Tell us your expected order rhythm so we can plan materials ahead.
Still have a question?
Ask it in the quote form. You do not need final quantities to start a conversation.
